New Gauge Half-Life Client, initialised as NGHL, is a light-weight Half-Life client designed with Competitive Half-Life Deathmatch in mind.
The NGHL client was first released on the third of December in 2008 by Rofi with the vision of creating the lightest, fastest and most functional and convenient Half-Life client. Rofi is a member of the NEW G@UGE clan, abbreviated as ngage or ng@ge, and built the client for the other members and him to use. Rofi also did work on maintaining MrBozo's HLSP Bunny mod and by the final release of NGHL in 2013 had included HLSP Bunny Mod 4.2r as an optional addon in the NGHL installer. This inclusion, among many other features, made NGHL very popular for Half-Life speedrunning. NGHL is still popular in the HLDM scene, but because of the antiquation of HLSP Bunny, the lack of updates since 2013, and the complicated process of using NGHL and it's features with Bunnymod Pro or Bunnymod XT, NGHL has become gradually less popular with Half-Life speedrunners and has been largely replaced by the GoldSRC Package and 2005 WON Package, both of which were designed with modern speedrunning rules in mind. Even still, NGHL has incredible performance even using SourceRuns rules compliant setups and can easily get 250 fps on a low end computer.
